Canberra by Rental Car

Canberra is Australia’s political capital and home to many of the best museums in the country as well as Australia’s best university at ANU.

Getting a hire car in Canberra gives you a lot more options to explore this great little city and its surrounds too. There are also a lot of car hire companies close to the center of the city too, so you will be spoiled for choice.

If you want to explore the surrounding region, you can be in Sydney in under 4 hours which takes you past beautiful coastal town of Wollongong too. If you go east, you get to beautiful Bateman’s Bay which is a great spot and a popular weekend retreat from people living and working in Canberra.

The southern route takes you to Melbourne in about 4 or 5 hours too and cuts through the heart of rural NSW and Victoria on the way.

If you would prefer to stay in Canberra then you should see the National Gallery as well as Parliament House. Canberra is also home to the Canberra Raiders rugby league team and Canberra Canons basketball team so there is usually some sporting event or other to go to if you are into sports.
