Armidale by Rental Car

Armidale is a beautiful regional town in mid-western New South Wales and the perfect place to explore the north and west of the state.

Armidale is also home to the University of New England which is one of the top universities in Australia but it means the town is well served by a small but vibrant pub and cafe scene driven by the students as well as an array of good restaurants. Armidale also has quite a few hotels to suit most budgets.

If you are using Armidale as a base to explore by getting a hire car, then you are in for a treat. The New England area (of which Armidale is the capital) has quite a few wineries as well as beautiful rural areas to enjoy. Very close to the town itself is Armidale State Forest which is a great place for a picnic.

If you want to go even further, then you are a couple of hours from the beautiful beaches of the coast or you can go south along the New England Highway to Newcastle and Sydney. If you prefer to go north, then you can reach the Gold Coast and Brisbane in about six hours.
