Armidale Airport by Hire Car

Armidale Airport is a regional airport that serves the capital of the New England area – Armidale and has daily flights to and from Sydney and Brisbane as well as other regional centres.  The airport itself lies only a couple of kilometres from the town centre of Armidale and is easily accessible by shuttle  bus or taxi.

If you are staying a little longer though, it may be a better idea to get a rental car as Armidale is not particularly well-serviced by public transport and like other cities in Australia, taxis can be quite expensive.

If you are planning to explore the surround countryside then a hire car is almost mandatory as few other transport options exist though there are regular trains and busses to Sydney and Brisbane as well as other regional centres.

In terms of exploring, there are quite a few wineries in the Armidale area as well as the beautiful Armidale State Forest which is just a short drive to the North and a great place for a day trip and picnic. Armidale itself is well served with accommodation for most budgets as well as pubs and restaurants to suit most tastes.
