Blacktown by Car Hire

Location: Blacktown > Sydney > New South Wales

Blacktown is a suburb of the greater Sydney area to the west of Sydney’s central business district. Ok, strictly speaking it is not part of Sydney, but as the city is so spread out it is very difficult to tell where Sydney ends and the surrounding cities begin. Even so, it can take over an hour to get from Blacktown to Sydney in heavy traffic.

Blacktown is out past Parramatta, close to Seven Hills and is a great base from which to hire a car and explore the western areas of Sydney. If you prefer the urban areas, then Parramatta is very close by and you can even get a ferry from there to the Opera House in central Sydney. There are also plenty of cheaper places to stay in Blacktown.

If you want to leave the city, then Wollongong is about 90 minutes to the south and Newcastle is about 2 hours to the north, but you are better placed to go west to the Blue Mountains and then on to the rural areas of Bathurst and Orange. Many people spend weekends in the Mountains too so don’t miss that opportunity.
