Biloela is a rural town of central Queensland about 40 miles inland from the coastal centre of Gladstone. It lies on the Burnett Highway which runs north to south.

With the recent mining boom in Queensland Biloela, like many other rural towns, saw quite an amount of growth in both people and wealth and continues to do comparatively well. Many families have moved there for work in recent years. Agriculture is probably where most of Biloela’s wealth comes from though.

There are a couple of accommodation options to suit the lower to mid range budget and there are also a reasonable amount of things to do for a country town. There are several nearby rivers and lakes making this area great for photography or picnics.

If you are leaving Biloela, then you can travel about an hour east to Gladstone on the coast – a major industrial centre and port. Brisbane lies about 8 hours to the south on the coast or you can travel north-east to Townsville which is also on the coast. Cairns lies a long way north of that.
