As with any airport, there are a lot of car rental companies to choose from right in the arrivals terminal. The airport also offers very easy access to the Gateway Motorway which will take you north or south out of Brisbane very quickly.

By going north from the airport, you can be on the beautiful sunshine Coast in less than an hour with the wonderful sandy beaches of Caloundra, Maloolabah and others or keep going all the way up to Noosa which is about 2 hours away.

If you go south, you are about an hour’s drive from the famous Gold Coast with its great beaches and infamous party life.

Brisbane city itself is about half an hour’s drive west from the airport and has many hotels for all budgets if you are thinking of staying. If you stay in Brisbane, then you might want to consider taking your hire car up to Mt Cootha for a great view of the city or south east to Manly to enjoy the cafe lifestyle and yacht club as well as beautiful Moreton Bay.
