Barossa Valley by Hire Car
Location: Barossa Valley > South Australia
The Barossa Valley is one of Australia’s most famous wine growing regions first settled by German immigrants in the 1800s.
These days it is home to vineyards and wineries that produce some of the world’s best wines and, as such, is a very popular tourist destination for both Aussie locals and foreign visitors alike.
Lying less than 30 miles north of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, the Barossa Valley is a huge favourite with day trippers from the city.
One important thing to remember is that Australia has very strict drink driving laws so if you are going to hire a car to see the Barossa, then make sure your group has a designated driver. The police patrol the Barossa relentlessly and you will almost certainly be stopped for a random breath test at some point.
There are plenty of vineyards that offer accommodation as well as wine tasting tours and sessions so consider staying out there. Alternatively Adelaide is a major city with hotels to suit every budget.
