Ballarat Airport is a regional airport that serves the town of Ballarat in Victoria as well as the surrounding rural areas.

Located at Mitchell Park in the North West of Ballarat, Ballarat is an easy drive into the town centre. There are a couple of car rental companies at the airport. You can also get to the town centre by taxi or shuttle bus without breaking the bank.

Ballarat itself is an old and historic town that was a major centre during Australia’s gold rush period of the 1800s. There are still a lot of things to see in the town relating to that period and a lot of tourists visit for that reason every year.

Ballarat Airport (and of course the town of Ballarat) is only a couple of hours drive from Melbourne and is also a great place which which to start exploring the countryside of rural Victoria. The other major rural centre in Victoria is Bendigo. If you want to travel even further, then Canberra is about 7 hours to the north and Adelaide is about the same to the west.
