Benalla by Hire Car
Location: Benalla > Victoria
Benalla is a regional town of rural Victoria that lies on the Hume Highway, not too far from the Victoria – New South Wales border. It’s a good stop off on the drive from Melbourne to Canberra or up to Sydney.
It’s also a reasonable place for a overnight stop on that journey with a couple of nice accommodation options at various budgets.
Benalla can also be a reasonable base from which to explore. The nearby town of Glenrowan is very famous in Australian history as the town in which the famed outlaw, Ned Kelly, made his last stand. As such it is also a favourite with local tourists and foreign visitors. You can even visit the Glenrowan Inn – perhaps the most famous regional Inn in Australia.
Melbourne is about 5 hours drive away from Benalla to the south and if you want to go north you will reach Canberra in about three hours and Sydney in around six hours.
